Visa for Danish Nationals

 

General Requirements for Visa

         Original passport valid for at least 4 months more that the period of visa required.

         One recent passport size "studio" photograph showing the full view of the face in a plain background.  (Scanned/Casual photographs will not be accepted.)  The photograph should not be more than 6 months old.

        Correct visa fees. Fees can be paid by Dankort, cash or a banker's cheque at the visa counter.  The Embassy prefers that the visa fees is paid through the Dankort/Visa Dankort.  If the applications are sent by post only a banker's cheque should be sent along with the application. Postal Orders are no more accepted. Cheques should be drawn in favour of EMBASSY OF INDIA, COPENHAGEN. An extra fee of DKK 50/- per cheque should be included for cheques issued in Greenland or the Faroe Islands if the cheque issuing bank is not under Danish System.

        A self addressed envelope with sufficient postal stamps may be enclosed in case the applicant desires return of passport through post. The Embassy prefers returning passports through Recommended/Registered Post.

         A copy of the Travel Plan should also be enclosed along with the Visa Application. Supporting documents might be required by the Embassy, where necessary.

         Completed application form filled only with blue or black ink and duly signed.  Applications have to be signed only by the applicant and not anyone else on his/her behalf, only exception being a parent signing for their small children who cannot sign.

Tourist Visa

Tourist Visa for a maximum period of six months from date of issue.

 

Tourist visas are non-extendable and non-convertible. Continuous stay in India by getting repeated, back-to-back tourist visas will not be permitted.  In case of applications for multiple-entry tourist visas sufficient details/justification should be given.

Business Visa


Businessmen or Employees of a company representing the company visiting India for the purposes of business are issued Business Visa. With effect form 01-July-2008 Business Visa will be issued for a minimum period of 1 year.

Requirements for issue of Business Visa:-

  •  Original Passport (valid for at least four months beyond the validity of visa)

  •  One recent Passport size "studio" photograph.

  •  Visa Application Form (PDF) (HTML)  , duly completed. 

  •  Applicable Visa Fee

  •  A business letter from the Danish company introducing the applicant, stating the purpose of the business visit and  undertaking responsibility, including financial, of the person representing the company.

  •  A letter of invitation from an Indian company should also accompany the Visa Application.

  •  Business visas for longer duration are issued on a case to case basis where the application is accompanied by details of business relations with the Indian companies, including documentary proof of financial transactions, letters of recommendation from the Indian Companies, the frequency of visit to India and a brief profile of the Danish company.

Transit Visa


Persons travelling through India to a third country may apply for Transit Visa. Transit visas are valid for halts of up to 72 hours in India within 15 days from the date of issue of the visa and must be obtained before departure. Transit visas cannot be obtained from immigration counters at port of entry in India. Evidence of onward travel to a third country from India, such as a confirmed air ticket, is required at the time of application.

Student Visa

Student visas are issued for the duration of the academic course of study or for a period of five years whichever is less, on the basis of firm letters of admission from Universities/ recognised colleges or educational institutions in India. Change of purpose and institutions are not permissible. As processing student visas could take a long time, students applying for visas to study in India are advised to apply well in advance.

Journalist Visa

Journalist visas are issued to professional journalists and photographers for visiting India. On some occasions, the applications for  Journalist Visas need to be referred to the authorities in India and hence processing time could be long. On obtaining the visa, the journalists are advised to contact on arrival in New Delhi, the External Publicity Division of the Ministry of External Affairs and in other places, the Office of the Government of India's Press Information Bureaus. Journalist visas are issued for a period up to 3 months with single or double entry. Prior approval of the Government of India is required for producing a documentary film/feature film in India. Details may be obtained from the Embassy. As prior approval of the Government of India is required for such visas, applicants are advised to apply well in advance.

Conference Visa

Conference visas are issued for attending international conferences/ seminars /meetings in India.   Issue of visa is subject to the approval of the Government of India for holding such conferences. As processing of conference visas take longer time, applicants applying for such visas are advised to apply well in advance with full particulars and all necessary documents pertaining to their participation in the conference.

Employment Visa


Employment visas are issued to skilled and qualified professionals or persons who are engaged or appointed by companies, organisations, economic undertakings on employment in very senior level or skilled positions.  If eligible for an Employment Visa, applicants will be granted a visa only for a maximum of one year initially.  Extension, if required, has to be sought in India from the immigration authorities 6 months prior to the expiry of the visa.  The Embassy cannot issue an Employment Visa for the second time, for the same position.  Registration within 14 days of arrival in India with the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office (FRRO/FRO) is compulsory.

Diplomatic / Official Visa

  No visa is required by persons visiting India on Diplomatic and Official assignment and holding valid Danish Diplomatic or official passport  except military observers going to UNMOGIP.
